His office announced Friday that Eric Adams will travel to the Dominican Republic this weekend for the first international trip.

City Hall said Hozzoner headed to DR on Sunday to “unite with the Dominican community” after the nightclub roof collapsed. The incident happened earlier Tuesday in a jet-suit nightclub in San Domingo, killing 221 people and injuring 150 oth

ers.

“As mayor of the city with the largest Dominican population outside the Dominican Republic, Mayor Adams is expressing his heartfelt condolences and support to those sad families, including many New Yorkers and their loved ones, who are directly affected by this tragedy,” the mayor’s office announced the announcement of Jaunt’s reading.

Adams will join Ydanis Rodriguez, the city’s transport commissioner, who was born and raised in the Dominican Republic and then immigrated to the United States.

His office said the mayor will return to the city on Tuesday.

When asked who would pay for the mayor’s travel, his spokesman Kayla Mamelak Altus replied: “Just like all travels with urban purposes, this will be paid by the city.”

The tour marks the first time Adams, who was previously known for shooting, traveled outside the country after he was beaten last fall by federal charges. Although he did go to Puerto Rico, the U.S. territory, in December, to attend an event hosted by crypto billionaire Brock Pierce.

Adams was sued by former President Biden’s Justice Department for soliciting and accepting luxury travel allowances and illegal foreign campaign donations from Turkish nationals in exchange for official favors.

Travel Benefits Adams (when he still held the position of Brooklyn City Government President) received free flight upgrades and hotel rooms by Turkish Airlines as well as free discounts through Turkish businessmen and government officials. Adams and his attorneys insist that he never violated the law and that the case was “false”.

Federal District Court Judge Dale Ho dropped the case last week after President Trump’s Justice Department intervened and demanded it to be thrown away. When Ho approved the Justice Department’s request, he strongly disagreed with his reasons for abandoning the charges, noting that Adams and federal prosecutors “shrunk bargaining” between him and Trump’s immigration law enforcement officers exchanged the case for them.

Adams, his lawyers and Justice Department officials strongly denied that there were any problems.
